March is Brain Injury Awareness Month

March is Brain Injury Awareness Month

Educators, how much do you know about Traumatic Brain Injury? The following are four statements about traumatic brain injury - how would you answer?

Myth or Fact?

  1. The younger a child is when acquiring a TBI, the better, because a young brain can heal itself.
  2. In order to sustain a brain injury, one must lose consciousness, even briefly.
  3. A mild brain injury (i.e., concussion and whiplash) can have long lasting effects that also need interventions.
  4. A student with TBI who currently tests in the normal range can learn new material well.
