Planning for the Future

Helping your child or loved one prepare for adulthood can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to do it alone. These OCALI resources are designed to give families an easy-to-understand overview of tools, materials, and ideas to support your child’s learning, development, and everyday routines as they get ready for life after school.

Here, you’ll find resources that:

  • Offer a “Try It, Assess It, Implement It” approach, so you can explore ideas and see what works.
  • Fit your child’s age, interests, and abilities without requiring special training.
  • Guide families through transition planning to adulthood, with a personalized roadmap and suggested roles for each stage.
  • Encourage family engagement, helping you work alongside your child and school to plan for the future.

These resources are a great place to start, with many connecting to larger collections you can explore when ready. Resources will be added as they become available, providing ongoing ideas and guidance to support your child’s transition to adulthood.
