ID Early for Autism in Early Intervention 2026


This regional in-person training for Ohio Early Intervention (EI) professionals will review autism characteristics, identify resources and tools professionals can use to enhance earlier identification conversations with families, and develop ideas to support families while they wait for a diagnostic evaluation. Attendees will leave with information, ideas, and resources to put into practice right away.

These trainings are both Ohio Approved (OA) and eligible for two (2) unit hours in the areas of EI developmental specialist/supervisor and EI service coordinator/supervisor as approved by the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD).

Who should attend?

Ohio Early Intervention professionals, including speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, early childhood mental health consultants, developmental specialists, EI service coordinators, and supervisors.

  • 2:00-2:45 Identifying Resources and Tools for earlier identification
  • 2:45-3:15 Developing ideas and sources of support for families
  • 3:15-3:30 Wrap Up/Questions

Objectives

  1. Review the early indicators and characteristics of autism in children prior to age three.
  2. Identify resources and tools professionals can use to enhance conversations with families about concerns.
  3. Develop ideas to support families while they wait for a diagnostic evaluation.
