OCALI is offering an internship opportunity to support organizational efforts to develop research and evidence driven resources and support data driven decisions across projects.
Through this position, the intern has the opportunity for growth in a variety of skillsets gaining invaluable professional experience:
- Work with OCALI content experts by providing research articles, literature reviews, and gathering information on current trends.
- Participate in interagency collaborations and form relationships with partners across those agencies.
- Gain advanced knowledge and skills related to resource and product developing, reporting, and contract project completion.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Proficiency with technology applications (including but not limited to: Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.) and navigating online environments.
- Experience using searchable databases and gathering research for report writing.
- Proven ability to organize information into a complete finished document that demonstrates order, clarity, and technical accuracy.
- Employs a methodical approach to problem solving.
- Proven ability to perform and complete tasks independently, use good judgment, and maintain confidentiality.
- Demonstrates competence and responsiveness in composing, editing, and formatting written content.
- Ability and desire to work in a team environment with diverse groups of people.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven ability to research supplemental sources as necessary, and to successively organize data/information into a complete finished document that demonstrates order, clarity, and a high level of technical accuracy with understanding.
- Experience working with online journals and other sources of peer-reviewed research to obtain, summarize, and communicate key insights from full text, peer-reviewed articles.
- Experience creating APA-style citations for peer-reviewed articles referenced.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Explore available journals and other sources of peer-reviewed literature to identify full text articles sought by center staff.
- Provide APA-style citations for OCALI resources (modules, web pages, kits, library materials, etc.) that reference peer-reviewed materials.
- Able to identify and summarize and communicate key insights from research articles to support the updating of OCALI-based resources, including but not limited to:
- Online learning modules
- Web pages
- Lending library materials
- Rack cards and promotional materials
- Successively organize data/information into a complete finished document that demonstrates order, clarity, and a high level of technical accuracy with understanding.
- Assist with curating a quarterly newsletter summarizing peer-reviewed literature related to special education practice and supports for individuals with disabilities back to center staff for regular consumption.
- Other duties as may be reasonably required from time to time.
Payment and Hours: The part-time internship will offer between 15 and 20 hours a week, at a base pay rate of $20/hour. Preferred work hours of availability are between 8 A.M. and 5 P.M. EST
Hybrid Approach: This opportunity incorporates onsite work at our flagship office in Columbus, OH with the potential for virtual, work-from-home flexibility. Hybrid/work from home hours must be pre-approved by the Research and Impact Team leadership.
