Sasha’s Path to Autism Diagnosis and Beyond

In this video Sasha, a young woman on the spectrum, generously describes her path to diagnosis. She provides an opportunity to gain insight into the experience of autism assessment from the perspective of the person seeking the evaluation.

Please join Sasha as she shares her challenges in middle school and high school – her efforts to mask her differences without understanding them and the distress of masking for so long that it feels impossible to unmask. She then tells how these challenges led to an autism evaluation, discusses the assessment process itself, and describes the relief of having an answer – “getting a name for it.”
