Employment First Rule
The Employment First rule applies to county boards of developmental disabilities and providers of employment services to individuals with developmental disabilities. This rule implements the employment first policy in accordance with section 5123.022 of the Revised Code.
Ohio Employment First Agency Navigation Tool
Youth, families, and transition teams will explore a variety of partner agencies to determine which agencies can offer support, services, and resources to assist the youth along the path to employment. This exploration can be overwhelming. To assist in the navigation of these agencies, this multi-agency overview can assist team members with a place to start and a way to organize the information.
Secondary Transition for Students with Disabilities Modules
Ohio Department of Education-Office for Exceptional Children offers free online modules for IEP team members to learn to plan, implement and support high-quality secondary transition. Four modules focus on: Student-Focused Planning, Student Development, Interagency Collaboration, Program Structure, Family Engagement with tips, resources, and activities to engage all members of the transition team.

Career Planning Services through Home and Community Based Medicaid Waiver
The outcome of Career Planning Services is the attainment of competitive, integrated employment or career advancement in a competitive, integrated job. Some youth may be eligible for these services while in school and some will plan to use the service following high school.

DODD Eligibility Tools

Local Interagency Agreements
Multiple agencies, schools, and providers in many countries have come together to work as a local interagency group to support youth and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to access community member and employment. Many county teams developed and signed local interagency agreements that outline common goals and priorities to guide practice and collaborative work.
Medicaid Waivers
DODD administers several waivers for the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services (ODJFS) and helps determine eligibility.

Pre-Employment Transition Services Fact Sheet- Opportunities for Ohioans with Disability
Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD) is making available Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) to students with disabilities beginning at age 14. These services, which are described below, are introductory services and are intended to help students with disabilities get an early start in identifying career interests. Pre-Employment Transition Services are for students with disabilities who need these services and have been determined eligible for Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) services or are potentially eligible but have not applied for VR services.

Secondary Transition and Workforce Development for Students with Disability

Transition Planning and the IEP
In this volume, Transition Planning and the IEP, the user is assisted to understand how to approach transition planning using the elements of the IEP transition planning process. Each step of the IEP transition planning process is explored and considerations for those with ASD are highlighted throughout each section. Resources and examples are provided to create insight and spark creativity during the planning.
