Stress Thermometer
Discover the benefits of using coping and relaxation interventions to help individuals to self-regulate and cope with their emotions. The Stress Thermometer is a visual support that helps to identify an individual's stress level. Developed by Janette McAfee, it provides a visual illustration of an individual's stress indicators, represented as low, medium, or high, similar to a thermometer. Coping strategies are then provided to address each level of stress. Stress markers are listed on the left side of the thermometer and coping techniques are listed and correspond to the stress on the right side.

Navigating the Social World: A Curriculum for Individuals with Asperger Syndrome, High Functioning Autism and Related Disorders
J.L. McAfee
Pediatrician Jeanie McAfee originally created this user-friendly social curriculum for her daughter Rachel, who was diagnosed with Asperger's at age ten. Since then, it has become a staple for parents and educators. It addresses the most urgent problems facing those with Asperger's Syndrome, high-functioning autism, and related disorders. Tasks are broken down into small steps, repeated until they are mastered, then generalized. Helpful handouts, templates, and forms will help keep teachers and learners on track.
