Transition Programs and Services: Key Considerations
The Ohio Employment First Core Principles provide guidance for teams when planning for meaningful community employment. These principles apply to all youth, including those with ASD. However, current outcome data suggest that people with ASD may encounter barriers to accessing and navigating the steps of career planning and development of employability skills even when responding to core principles. These barriers require transition teams for youth with ASD to intensify the focus on critical elements of transition planning in order that the youth can achieve meaningful community based adult outcomes.
